Relaunching Patreon
Hey guys! Today, I am announcing that my Patreon page has been updated and relaunched. What's changed? There is now only one tier of patron rewards; and the minimum monthly fee is just $1 per month. I went with this because I am a small channel. It's only for my hobby, and I don't make lots of money off my videos, of course. However, having a bit of extra cash each month would allow me to upgrade or purchase hardware to improve video quality, or even allow me to expand my channel to different games and platforms.

Obviously, my content will always be free, and I'm grateful for your support through likes, subscriptions and follows. But if you'd like to go the extra mile, a dollar a month would be great.

Thanks for watching and supporting my content, and I look forward to creating more in the new year. Hopefully weekly content...

100th video (on YouTube at least) special is coming soon. Several hours already have been put in to get it finished. I think it will be a very fun and interesting look back on things throughout the last 3 years.

Am I actually one of the few people who enjoys seeing all the snow, even in February? I find it so pleasant to see.

NEW VIDEO: On the Move | Joe Plays Minecraft S3 E8
Hey Enjinites! How is everyone doing this Saturday morning? I'm doing very well with the warm weather outside and actually decent school grades for once.

Other than that, a new JPM episode just went up on YouTube, BitChute and PewTube. Today, I talk about my thoughts on survival mode (some philosophy, you could consider it) and I work on moving our base to a new location. It's a bit of a longer episode (sorry!) due to the different segments I recorded. I didn't realize how long they totaled up to. Regardless of that, I hope this video is a good one and I hope you enjoy your weekend!

I am planning on getting back into making more commentary-based videos, like my Joe Reviews from back in the day. Off the top of your head, does anyone have any Minecraft topics they would want me to cover? I'm looking to get a list together to start on in the coming days. Thanks!

I hate to keep posting about this kind of stuff, but once again, another video demonetized automatically, despite nothing being against the Community Guidelines. I guess the whole demonetization across the board doesn't matter since it already happens to individual videos.

I mean, 41 views, you wouldn't make a lot of money off of that anyways. And if you were bigger, you'd surely have good chances at manual review.

Addressing YouTube's New Monetization Policy
Following up with my posts from earlier, I've made a video discussing my thoughts more in detail, going over YouTube's blog post about the YouTube Partner Program changes. If you have the time, please watch and let me know how you feel on this topic.
Addressing YouTube's New Monetization Policy
Just another stupid decision from a company holding a monopoly on video hosting websites... Watch More → This video is available on BitChute and PewTube. My Social Media → YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/JoePCool14 → Enjin: http://enjin.com/profile/Joe →

I disagree with most of the things you said. I'm only gonna comment on the parts where actual discussion is held, and no direct attacks against individuals (eg. the new CEO) or YouTube as a whole (eg. claim they don't care about creators), but as a future tip if you want to get things changed, those don't make you look very good.

Before we start, you need to learn to look at the bigger scheme of things. Botted accounts uploading illegal content has been far too common for far too long, and it is simply impossible for Google to check all videos. Considering the algorithm didn't do a very good job at it either, they now need to limit the amount of monetized videos. Having your videos monetized comes at a COST for Google, they're actually paying money so you can earn some; they simply can't do that for everyone.

Also, another thing; you don't understand != there's no reason behind it. You've been using that implication a bunch of times throughout the video.

2:20 Concerning bad actors: Bad actor is anyone who makes content that advertisers don't want to advertise on. That is scam or illegal content (eg. copyright infringing videos) but also heavily controversial and radical videos (eg. real or satire nazi channels or Logan Paul's suicide forest).

4:11 Concerning which creator would want to get demonetized: Well, probably not many, but there are definitely many who are above 1000 subscribers (below that you barely make money anyways) who agreed with the change. Personally, if I was a content creator, I would actually prefer the change too; as I would hope my channel would meet the requirements soon (until that it's basically worthless anyways), and once I'm there I would earn more money (more details below).

5:52 Concerning why they moved the goal post: Simple, they offered you a service and you happily took it, but never gave them anything in return. No further explanations needed; you were just spending their money.

6:25 Concerning the genericness of every blogpost: These things need to be generic so people like me and you understand them. Google could post a 50-page whitepaper leading to the decision (and I ensure you, more than that have been written in preparation for this; it wasn't just pulled out of thin air), but none of us would comprehend or even read it.

7:40 Concerning big channels: No, it's not the big channels who are a problem. Some of the big channels aren't suited for certain advertisement either, say PewDiePie or Logan Paul, but they're easy to regulate for Google.

9:25 Concerning algorithms and "little guys": YouTube doesn't like who they care. They don't care if the little guys or the big guys get the viewers. They just want people to view someone. However, it turns out people spend more time on YouTube in total if they watch people they can get attached to, those with a good budget, good quality, and important; with a fanbase people can relate to. People like following PewDiePie not only because he's a fun guy, but also because everyone does. Whenever he speaks, a meme will be made. So, the machine learning algorithm behind Google realizes that and gives people what they want; big YouTubers. No one at Google ever said "alright, JoePCool14, I hate this guy for no reason, let's make his videos go down in the suggestions."

10:45 Concerning "forget the little guy, forget the small YouTubers, they don't deserve our time": Yes! Precisely. You're not worth their time. You should be glad they're allowing you to upload your videos on Google disk space and giving you all of that infrastructure. They can't spend more time on you on-top of that.

11:20 Concerning "they're just trying to find more ways to save money": Yeah! You're slowly getting the hang of it. They're not a scout club, and they don't owe you anything.

12:20 Concerning "if we keep getting [...] more subscribers [...] we're gonna get more revenue": Yes! And once you hit 1000 subscribers, you've shown to YouTube that you're wor
12:20 Concerning "if we keep getting [...] more subscribers [...] we're gonna get more revenue": Yes! And once you hit 1000 subscribers, you've shown to YouTube that you're worth their time; that you might have serious potential. By that point, you've missed out on maybe $15 or something. If you want, I can gift you that $15 once you reach 1000 subs. If you're losing motivation, you're not having a plan; there's nothing that makes you different from any other YouTuber (which applies to reality; there are tens of thousands of YouTubers doing what you do). If your motivation is "let's get $100", then you're never gonna be big either way. On-top of that, if you don't have $100 for a new mic or movie editor from your personal jar, you're not old enough to be a serious YouTuber. (It's literally only working an extra day, or maybe two if you're at McDonalds.)

14:30 Concerning getting to $100 is a sweet feeling: Getting to 1000 subs is a sweet feeling too, now. And most channels reach 1000 before they get their first payout.

15:16 Concerning "why don't you tackle the large channels instead": You cut off the sentence in half. "While this change will tackle the potential abuse of a large but desperate group of smaller channels, we also know that the bad actions of a single, large channel can also have an impact on how advertisers view YouTube". Both large and small YouTubers can be problematic. And, in fact, they are tackling the large channels, too; see PewDiePie or Logan Paul for examples.

15:50 Concerning "people taking away things from everybody because one abused it": It's said, but yeah, it's true. Those things need to be taken away; and if possible, given back but without the option to abuse. You can't manually ban YouTube channels by hand. That just doesn't work. This'll happen many, MANY times in your life and I'd suggest you to start getting used to it; and instead of complaining about it, you should learn how to life with it, and more than that, learn WHY it's actually the right way to deal wi

18:20 Concerning lots of people complaining: That's because people prefer crying over thinking.

Hope you can read all of this. It doesn't only concern YouTube, but the world as a whole, and the fact that there's not just you.
I didn't proof-read this by the way. There are a lot of semantical irregularities and unclear formulations, but I think you're getting the point.
There were a lot of really good points in there, and yes, some of my reaction was overkill. My whole point in making the video was to just express my opinion of how YouTube seems to purposely restrict features to bigger creators for sometimes arbitrary reasons. I'm not just talking about monetization, more about stuff like "Community" or little things like credits/series and what not. Was this video my best work? Not at all. However, these are just some basic concerns I'm sure most small creators are having right now.

That being said, I think never making another rant video again might be a good choice for me going forward...

New Video: BUILD BATTLE on Hypixel!
Good morning everyone! In the wake of yesterday's demonetization news, I have a new video ready! Today, I play on Hypixel's Build Battle, which just received a big update and its own lobby on the network. It was fun, and decently successful for me!

Hopefully you enjoy the video, don't forget to like and comment directly on the video to help me out, or even consider subscribing. Every little bit helps the channel.

Woah, a non-PvP game! That's different. Will I prove my epic building skills today in Build Battle?

Unbelievable. Next month, @YouTube is now going to be DEMONETIZING every channel with less than 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 yearly watch hours. Small channels like mine now have yet another hurdle to overcome for growing.

Additional Changes to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) to Better Protect Creators

https://youtube-creators.googleblog.com/2018/01/additional-cha...

2017 marked a tough year for many of you, with several issues affecting our community and the revenue earned from advertising through the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). Despite those issues more creators than ever are earning a living on YouTube, with the

i mean how much money were you really making

Not much, but I've technically earned almost $30, and would eventually have enough to claim my earnings. Plus, there are plenty of channels with less than 1000 subscribers making more revenue.
this is sad, youtube has been falling over the past year or so and instead of doing things to change it they are making it worse.

Just when you thought Minecraft channels were safe from being demonetized on YouTube. Not today apparently. The content here has nothing to do with politics.

Think that's an automatic system that flags that. Hopefully a real person can check that
0 comments
Their system is annoying. I am gonna assume they use the CC system to detect any inappropriate stuff, and if there are any remarks that could POSSIBLY be an offensive remark, it will demonetize it. Not only that, but the CC system straight up sucks... For some people, it gets like 60% words right.

Any remarks about things like "poop" is flagged, but I think it gets more common with a larger viewer base. Larger viewer bases get automatic demonetization within the first 10 seconds, my friend with 1.8m subs isn't on the auto demonetization but most of his videos get flagged and he is risking losing his career. It sucks. Lots of my friends are being effected by it.

CC is exactly how they do it. Along with tags, description, etc. Good thing I'm not actually reliant on YouTube for my income, otherwise, I can certainly understand the struggles. Services such as Patreon and MakerSupport has never been so important.

NEW VIDEO: 2017 Recap, 2018 Plans | Channel Update #1
2017 has come and gone, and I'd like to spend a few minutes discussing how my channel did last year. As I'll say in the video, it certainly wasn't as good as it could've been, and I do feel I've let myself down to some extent. I'm hoping this is a good chance to set some goals for 2018, and we'll see how well I follow through on them.

If you have any ideas for what I should do this year for the channel, please let me know. I would love to get some feedback. Hope you all have a great day!
2017 Recap, 2018 Plans | Channel Update #1
2017 has come and gone, and it's time to look back and see how I fared on this channel. And using that information, determine some goals for the upcoming year. I'm looking forward to some great future content creation in 2018!
