I believe that upon registering to Enjin, notifications via email are
enabled by default. Therefore, there is a chance that the people you want to contact could recieve these notifications via their email. I have an alternate Enjin account that I know I have never changed any settings on, and the settings are below (view spoiler). Therefore, I believe those are the
default notification settings for
everyone.
(If Enjin hasn't changed their default settings in the past couple of years).

Based on the (most likely) default Notification settings, your friends will get notified via email if you send them a private message. Keep in mind, this is only if they did not change their notification settings. But there is a high chance that they didn't.
