Featured Friday- DUSK Combat Force

Question 1.jpg
advtel: It was a project that initially began with my close friend hartage and I. We met playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare back on the PlayStation 3 and were both invested in the idea of developing a tight knit group of like-minded players who shared a deeper understanding of respect, loyalty, and camaraderie. It was the strong connection to those values that gave us the inspiration to develop our community. We were motivated to take all of the things that we found lacking in online gaming and grow into an organization that empowers its members to become better versions of themselves through a network of close friends that value and support one another.

Question 2.jpg
advtel: DUSK Combat Force was founded in 2008 on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. During our first 5 years, we exclusively played the Call of Duty franchise with limited brand exposure. In the summer of 2013, our community disbanded due to inactivity and lack of progression. At the start of 2016, we rebranded ourselves as a multi-gaming organization, redefined our logo, and launched our new website. Our new community model made way for us to create a platform to expand to more games and grow exponentially as an organization. At the same time, we restored the values that we were founded on and provided more opportunities for our members to pursue their ambitions by growing as gamers, individuals, and leaders.

We are currently working towards expanding our reach on a variety of games including Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Battlefield, Destiny, Fortnite, and of course continuing our legacy within the Call of Duty franchise. In addition, we have been actively using our resources towards establishing our presence in the competitive arena. One of our long term goals is to have the opportunity to professionally compete against other talented eSports teams in major tournaments. We continuously strive towards strengthening our organization and bringing aboard new players who share our values. Our mission is to grow and become a household name within the online gaming and eSports industry while maintaining our fundamental values.

Question 3.jpg
advtel: I would advise anyone passionate about starting their own project to develop a clear vision of what they wish to accomplish, surround themselves with people who believe in their vision, and most importantly be accepting of criticism. Over the years, I have witnessed so many clans and communities begin recruiting with no clear vision in place. Almost all of them disintegrate or split up over time because they have no meaningful purpose holding them together. Before starting any project, it is essential to write down a clear mission statement that outlines what you are looking to accomplish with your organization. Along with establishing a vision, it is equally as important to recruit players who share that vision. Instead of bringing aboard anyone, ask yourself, would you rather have four quarters or one hundred pennies? Finding those valuable players who will engage themselves in helping you grow your community is a challenge, but will greatly pay off over time in building the organization you envisioned. As a leader within my organization, I always stress the importance of being diplomatic and accepting of criticism. The primary reason our community has been so successful is because we allow our members to openly address their concerns and offer ideas which we in turn assess and in many cases implement. Do not steer away from change or feel entitled to always run things your way. If you are open to new ideas, you will be amazed by the results.

In regards to design tips, I would strongly recommend keeping it simple. I always base our design concepts off of the the KISS principle of "Keep it simple, stupid." A simplistic website that is easy to navigate is key. Nowadays no one has the patience to browse through countless pages of text or navigate through a website that is all over the place. Make sure that whatever you decide to implement onto your website such as pages, modules, or content is concise and serves a purpose on your website. The same concept should apply to your website design. As someone who never had any web design experience prior to joining Enjin, I understand how daunting it may seem to design your own website. If you feel you are struggling, it is important to seek out professional assistance and find people who can help you bring your vision to life.

Question 4.jpg
advtel: I think that it would very beneficial for Enjin to develop a more user friendly mobile app. Many of our members find the current Enjin app very difficult to navigate and limited in regards to website browsing capabilities. This would be very beneficial since most of us navigate the website on our phones rather than on a computer.

Question 6.jpg
advtel: Enjin Coin is a very innovative concept which I believe will revolutionize the way communities purchase virtual goods on the Enjin network. Our community has not yet utilized this technology but as time progresses we do plan on getting involved in Enjin's cryptocurrency.

Question 5.jpg
advtel: For anyone planning on starting their own community, I would highly recommend seeking out the help of AT SLAYER who I have had the pleasure of working with for over a year now. His knowledge of Enjin, original design concepts, and work ethic is second to none. He will undoubtedly help you create the website that will best represent your vision.

In addition, I would suggest contacting Derrick from Dase Designs with any graphic assistance such as logos, mascots, or branding. He is extremely talented and has a plethora of experience designing for teams ranging from small gaming clans to professional eSports organizations.

I would also like to thank the Enjin team for giving us the incredible opportunity to be featured in this week's Featured Friday. We are humbled to be given the spotlight in order to help inspire other communities.
