Why don’t you tell us a little more about your community and what your future aspirations are? What games is your guild involved with?

We've chosen Guild Wars 2 as our game, due to the huge hopes we have for it. We've been watching videos from all sources to gain as much knowledge as possible of the game, beforehand, and suffice it to say, we like what we're seeing.

Our goal is quite simple. We want to be one of the best, if not THE best PvP guild in GW2. And while it may seem like a cliché, we've already worked really hard to get preparations made for this to happen, long before the game gets released. The way things are going right now, we're definitely expanding in the right direction.

Our community, as it stands, consists of our accepted guild members, our community members, and ourselves; the management of the guild. Our community is open to anyone and everyone who wants a forum where they can discuss the game with players of every level of skill and background. So long as people behave themselves according to common sense (which is sadly not so common on the Internet), we're going with "the more, the merrier" when it comes to who gets to participate on the forums.

Where did the name Paradigm Shift come from?

During a 4 hour session of trying to figure out a name, I proposed that name about 2 hours into it. We thought it was a good name, but realized it was hard to find a good URL that wasn't already used. After another 2 hours, I was ready to go to bed, so I said "Paradigm Shift is the best I can come up with", and after a bit of back-and-forth, we figured it might have been the best idea after all. Of course, using Enjin was an idea that allowed us to get a good URL for our site, so it all worked out pretty well.

What type of players do you specifically look for in an organization like yours?

In regards to community participants, we're pretty open so long as people behave.

As for our guild, we're using an application form that has candidates answer questions regarding their previous PvP experience. We're looking for players who have an active PvP background, and have credentials that prove they have a certain level of skill. While "skill" doesn't have a specific unit of measurement, we're using our own way of deciding if we believe the player to be suited for the guild. Given that our number of declined applications is larger than the accepted ones, it's safe to say our members are "hand picked".

What we place the most emphasis on during recruitment, is PvP.

PvP, PvP, and PvP.

The reason for this is quite simple. If they've achieved impressive things in PvP, then they've proven that they can hold their own in events that are not scripted, and react quickly in environments that can change from second to second. Based on which games the applicant has chosen to mention, we're using different standards to evaluate each person.

What do you think separates a GM like yourself who has more interest in the PvP side of the game and competitions versus one who is all about PvE aspects?

Regardless of the guild, a leader has to embody so many different features and traits. Respect, dignity and the ability to maintain players is key for success. I've had experience being GM of various different guild types. Managing a PvP guild is; from what I've experienced, the most interesting. To be a successful Guild Master of a high end PvP guild you need 4 key features, maturity, respect, sense of humor and the ability say no. However in a PvE guild it's more about managing your members constantly. Making sure they show up during raid time.

A PvP GM will have to be a lot more commanding than a PvE GM. Deploying strategies on the battlefield and getting your team to follow to you precisely, while fighting swarms of enemy players. In PvE you have to be commanding, however there's a lot more things to look out for in PvP, especially if your opposition wants to win as badly as you.

Apart from that, there aren't a lot of different features, GM's in general have to meet a certain quota to lead a guild and be successful with it. There's a significant difference from leading a guild and actually having success with it. In both types in comes down to who the GM appoints as officers. In PvE it's a lot easier to appoint officers, maturity and competence is what makes an officer in PvE. However,in PvP if you’re a GM you need to know who to put in charge. It comes down to maturity, intellect, age, specialty, and most importantly experience. Competitive gaming and hardcore PvP will place a lot more stress and pressure on the GM, than a scripted boss fight. In PvP there are no scripts and no two players are alike.

Let’s talk about your Enjin site for a moment. What inspired the overall design and logo?

The meaning of Paradigm Shift is what our logo has captured. Which is that people will see our guild as something different before they come in contact with us. The paradigm shift element comes into play there because paradigm shift means seeing the same thing/object in dramatically different ways. In example our opposition see's us as a average guild when we claim to be one of the best. However their view of us with change dramatically when we combat them. So that being said our graphics designer Usk Delt has thrown together his design skills a created a logo that relates to that saying. At first people see our logo as a P and a S however then they realize it's also blades or swords. And the design of our website was based off of the fact that we wanted something simple and professional with a few eye catchers.
